In the afternoon, they had a half day tour in Tokyo. They visited Meiji shrine and enjoyed shopping at Harajuku. It was hot and humid today but Meiji shrine forest was cool and they said the forest was just like entering a Studio Ghibli movie.
They learned how to purify themselves before approaching the main shrine by taking one of the ladles, filling it with fresh water and rinsing both hands.
午後から明治神宮、原宿を観光しました。雨上がりの蒸し暑い日でしたが、明治神宮の森は鬱蒼として涼しく、グロリアとマイケリンは、スタジオジブリの世界のようだといって楽しんでいました。本殿にお参りする前に、手水屋で柄杓を使う作法を覚えました。

Before they reached the Shrine, they came across all these barrels of sake which are donated to the Meiji Shrine. They purify in order to welcome the gods.
奉納された清酒の樽を見て、神道ではお浄めに日本酒を使うことも学習しました。

This photo was taken at the entrance of Takeshita Dori which stands as a symbol of Tokyo’s collision of street cultures. They seemed to like Oriental Bazaar, a famous gift shop in Harajuku, rather than shops in Takeshita street.
竹下通りの入り口では、お決まりの記念写真を撮りました。大人の二人は竹下通りより、上品なお土産屋さんのオリエンタルバザールが気に入ったようでした。
