2014/03/25
今日明日と小学校（幼稚園のＫからスタート）実習が始まりました。２か所の小学校に分かれて実習です。今日の報告は、Del Mar Elementary Schoolに行った６人です。２人ずつ３つのＫ（Kindergarten）のクラスに入りました。日本でいう年長さん（５〜６歳）が小学校の最初のクラスになっています。このクラスでは、子どもの自己紹介がこのように書かれていました。ピザが好きな子が多いですね。
Students go to elementary schools on Monday and Tuesday for their internships. Ten students go to Linscott Charter School and 6 Del Mar Elementary School. Reports today are from Del Mar. Three pairs of two students go to three different kindergarten classes. In this class, each child is introduced like this. Pizza is universally very popular for young people!

このクラスではアルファベットのＵの練習をしていました。”Unicorn under the umbrella”のワークシートに異なる色を使って塗りながら文字と音との関係を勉強していましたね。クレヨンの色が書かれているのですが、お姉さんもわからないのがあるようです。この手前の男の子は紅いクレヨンに書いてある文字を読んでほしいと懇願していました。Scarletと書かれていたのですが、このお姉さんも読めなかったのが残念！
In this class, children are practicing a letter U/u. Using a worksheet of “Unicorn under the umbrella”, they were coloring different shapes with crayons. This girl was telling a student about this color. The boy on the right asked her how to read “Scarlet” written on the crayon. It’s too bad she couldn’t read it either! Study English harder, students!

このテーブルでは、Ｕが文字の真ん中にある単語を切り取って、絵とマッチングさせて単語を絵の下に貼っていく活動でした。はさみで切ってのりをつけて貼るという作業に時間がかかっていましたが、この子は黙々とやっていました。bug, mud, cut, cub, hug, …などは、お姉さんもかろうじて知っている単語でよかったです！
In this table, children were working on matching words with pictures. The words were like bug, mud, cut, cub, and hug, all of which have a letter u in the middle of the word. I hope my students know these words (I’m afraid to ask them!).

一斉授業はあまり多くはないのですが、時々このように全員が集まって床に座っての授業になります。ここのクラスではＫのつく単語をお話の中から探して、書かれているお話の中のＫがどこにあるかを聞いているところです。たくさんの手が挙がっていますね。前に来てＫに丸をつけてもらっていました。学生たちもこれならわかるので、手をあげたらと勧めたのですが、さすがに恥ずかしかったようです！！
This is a whole class activity finding a letter K/k in the story written on the board. The children raised their hand when they found the letter. So I asked my students to raise their hand when they found it, but they were so embarrassed!

こちらのテーブルは友達間で読み合いをするグループです。文字を手で触りながらゆっくり読む練習をしていました。これならお姉さんもできます！ This is a small group activity where children read a book to others. They touched each letter in the book and read it slowly. With this activity, this student could help them read!
