今年も、フィールドワーク（FW）児童発達コースが今日、成田からサンノゼに向けて出発しました。今年のメンバーはどんな旅を見せてくれるでしょうか。

The ECE (Early Childhood Education) field trip to Santa Cruz started today.  The group of 16 students full of hope and anxiety was at Narita airport leaving for San Jose.  Have a great time, everyone!

無事到着！ サンノゼは春というより初夏の匂いで私たちを迎えてくれました！ みんなまだまだ元気そうです。

We arrived safely!  We kept saying “it’s hot in here”, but enjoyed ourselves in the fresh air of early summer!

サンノゼ空港を後にして、サンタクルーズへ移動し、ホストファミリーとのご対面となりました。この家族は歓迎のお花を用意していてくれたようです。受け取った学生は疲れも吹き飛んだようですね！

We moved to Santa Cruz and met host families at the Cabrillo College parking area.  A boy in this family gave a bunch of flowers to his host sister from Japan!  Thanks for such a warm welcome!

こちらの家族は３歳と５歳の子がママと一緒に迎えてくれました。それより、スーツケースはなぜこんなに重いのでしょう！

There are 3- and 5- year- old children in this family.  They are not old enough to help students’ heavy suitcases!   It looks so heavy.  What’s in there, I wonder?

練習してきた初めのあいさつは、みんなうまく言えたでしょうか。ちょっとぎこちなくても、あなたたちには最大の武器である笑顔があります。と、けんさんも言っていましたね。

Students have practiced speaking phrases like “Nice to meet you. I’m ___,” when they first meet their families. In reality, however, it’s not as easy as it seems!   But nothing is more attractive than your smile, as Ken suggests. Smile is the best introduction!
