子どもの気持ちを理解するためには、子どもの遊びを体感することから始まります。みんな、後半はいっぱい子どもの気持ちになって遊べたようですね！　しかし、前半の話も忘れないでいてください。

To understand what children are thinking, you may need to experience activities they usually do. The students had a great time playing with all the materials prepared for this workshop. At the same time, I hope they learned that teachers should have broad knowledge about child development and what learning opportunities will enhance development for the children they teach.

午後からは、まずは日本語Iのクラスの参観をしました。写真は、ひらがな、カタカナ混じりの文章を読んでその内容についての質問に答える活動のお手伝いをしているところです。カタカナの読みが難しそうでしたね。ネイティブスピーカーの皆さんはこのクラスではかなり自信をもって教えていました！

In the afternoon, we visited Japanese I. Bunkyo students went around the room to help Japanese I students do their worksheets. Being native speakers of Japanese, Bunkyo students looked so proud of themselves when teaching their own language!

日本語がこのように教えられているのを体験することで、日本語と英語の違いなども改めて、意識することができたのではないでしょうか。萱脇先生と学生の皆さん、とても楽しいひと時を過ごさせていただきありがとうございました！

The students enjoyed learning how Japanese language was taught here. This experience must have made them aware of the differences between English and Japanese. Thank you so much for having us in your class today, Kayawaki-sensei and her students!

今日の最後は、アートのクラスで、ブレスレット作りを楽しみました。アートクラスの学生たちが、文京の学生に付いて親切に教えてくれました。写真は、銅板にやすりをかけて形を整えているところです。結構、力が必要で、皆さん真剣です！

Today’s last activity was making bracelets. Students in the art class helped Bunkyo students filing and sanding the copper. They found out that they had to push harder than they ever thought!  They looked very serious, didn’t they?

全員完成です！　ブレスレットのほかにバッジ作りも楽しかったですね！　今日は盛りだくさんのスケジュールでしたが、これで無事終了です！

They all did it!  They made buttons as well.  Whew!  Today’s schedule was packed with a variety of activities, but finally that’s all for today!
