学生たちは、週末を家族と一緒に思い思いに過ごしています。ビーチに出かけたり、ショッピングに出かけたり、家族と一緒に６、７時間かけてロスアンゼルスまで小旅行をしている家族もいるようです。楽しい週末にしてください！　平穏な週末になりますように！

The students are spending their first weekend doing a variety of things with their families. Some go to the beaches and some go shopping, and there are the students who have gone to Los Angeles areas with their family. Have a nice weekend, all!  We wish them a pleasant and relaxing time!

６時からは、ホストファミリーの一人であるフランシスの家で、持ち寄りのパーティーが開かれました。これはオプショナルでしたが、ロスに行っている家族以外はみんな来ていたので、ほかの家族と出会ういい機会になりました。

Frances, one of the host families, invited all the families to her house for dinner. It was a pot-luck party and optional, but all the families except one family who has gone to Los Angeles came. It was a great opportunity for the students to meet other families in a relaxed, social atmosphere.

パーティー後半は、このようなピアノ演奏もありました！　特技を持っているのはいいことですね。

A couple of students played the piano and the audience applauded at the end of each piece enthusiastically!  It’s good to have something that will make you feel proud of!

続いて、ある家族のお父さんの掛け声とともに、その家の子どもと学生のダンスがみんなに披露されました。

Following the piano performance, another student and her host sister started dancing, encouraged by their father!  They are not shy at all!

そして、みんなが参加してのダンスが始まり、音量もエネルギーも最高潮に達していましたね！　いい汗をかいていたようです！

Then, everyone was encouraged onto the floor!  The music choices being all high energy beats, everyone was sweaty all over, but it was great fun!

こちらは、どうみても学生たちは盆踊りをしているように見えますが、前にいるお父さんの動きは機敏でした！

They look performing Bon-dance which is a Japanese traditional dance, repetitive and slow, so it’s easy to learn. However, the front dancer, one of the fathers, was swinging his whole body quickly and vigorously!  (Is it called “Dancehall Reggae” or just a line dance?)
