４歳児がやってみると、ずいぶん簡単にちぎることもでき、貼ることも全く問題がなく、最後の電話にして遊ぶのも楽しんでいました。この１歳の差に学生たちも改めて、びっくりしたようです！

For 4-year olds tearing off small pieces of paper and gluing them onto the cup was not a big deal. They also enjoyed talking with friends through string telephones made of paper cups and some string. The difference was amazing, the students later reported.

今日で、４日間の実習がすべて終了しました。今日の振り返りでも、多くの気づきと日米の違いや類似点が出ていました。例えば、先生が子どもと一緒になって遊ぶか遊ばないかにかかわらず、子どもは先生が好きである。子どもの成長には個人差が大きいのは、日米でも同じ。子どもはどんな子もどこにいる子もかわいい。先生側の意図的に考えられている環境設定を見ることができたのは勉強になった。これでプログラムは、明日の修了式を残すばかりになってしまいました。明日の修了式では最後の難関が残っていますね。英語でのスピーチです！

The students finished all their internships today. Once again they came back to Cabrillo late afternoon for feedback and discussion sessions. Their observations became more detailed and focused on their own themes. For instance, regardless of types of teachers who tend to play with children in Japan and watch children playing with peers in the US, children like their teachers and trust them. There are biological and psychosocial factors influencing the development of individual differences in both Japan and the US. It was good to see the classroom environments which were positive and exciting environments that all children deserve, provided by intentional teachers. Every child, no matter where he/she lives and what language he/she speaks, is cute and unique!  There is nothing left in this program except for the closing ceremony tomorrow. But that may be the hardest because the students are expected to say a few words in English!
