今日も天気に恵まれ学生たちは家族と楽しく過ごしていることでしょう。
私も今日はお休みです！モンタレ—水族館まで足を延ばして、クラゲやイワシの群れに癒されて帰ってきました。継ぎ目のないガラスで出来ているメインの水槽は日本製なんですって！

Ｉgot a day off of work today, while the students were enjoying their weekends.  So I went to Monterey and visited the aquarium there.  I liked the world of jellies.  It was relaxing and soothing to watch the jellyfish elegantly swim by.  According to the brochure, the Monterey Bay Aquarium was the first to ever add jellyfish to their exhibit in the early 90s.  Also something in the brochure caught my eye; that is, the main tank in the Kelp Forest area features one of the world’s largest single-pane windows, created by a Japanese company! (This photo is not the aquarium.  I forgot to take pictures in there! )

この辺はイワシの缶詰工場がたくさんあったところで、この写真の奥の方に見えているのが、”Cannery Row”と書かれているところです。アメリカを代表する作家、ジョン・スタインベックがここを舞台に描いた小説にちなんでつけられました。ずいぶん昔に訪れたことのなる懐かしい場所でゆっくりできました！

The town was crowded with tourists.  In this photo, you may not see the Cannery Row sign, but it is a novel by American author John Steinbeck.  It is set during the Great Depression in Monterey, California, on a street lined with sardine canneries that is known as Cannery Row (from the information on the Website).  I visited Monterey a long time ago and still remember this part of the areas!
