■ Cabrillo College（アメリカ カリフォルニア州 サンタクルーズ） で、3/13〜3/28までの海外短期フィールドワークです。

こちらはフェニックスホール（３年生クラス）で、少し大きい子なので掛け算の練習をしているところでした。しかし、今日も明日も担任が出張でいなくて、サブの先生が来ていたので、ちょっと落ち着かない様子でしたね。
In Phoenix Hall (3rd grade class), the students were practicing multiplication facts. The regular classroom teacher were not available today and tomorrow, so the students were taught by a substitute teacher.

二人ともちょっとさえない顔をしているところを撮ってしまったようですね！ 子どもに「What is seven times nine?」と聞かれても、答えることができないのは悲しいですよね。７ｘ９＝？と書かれれば、６３とわかるのに．．．。数字は国際共通語です。それを使ってコミュニケーションしたいですね。
These students don’t look happy in this photo, but they were doing OK. One of the children asked a Bunkyo student, “What is seven times nine?” But she didn’t understand what he said but later she easily got a right answer, 63, when he wrote it like 7 x 9 = ? Mathematics is often seen as an international language, so try to communicate with the children through numbers.

忙しい皆さんのスケジュールを合わせるのが大変でしたが、このプログラムを支えてくれているカブリヨ大学の関係者のみなさんとのランチョンがやっとできました。この他にもいるのですが、ずっと続けているこのようなメンバーがいるおかげで、今年もプログラムがスムースに進んでいます。皆さんの協力に感謝をするとともに、来年もよろしくお願いいたします。
It was so hard to find common times to meet everyone and have luncheon together, but we finally made it although some still couldn’t come! Thank you so much for all your support and hard work in making this program a success.

エメラルドグリーンとブルーの綺麗な海を上から見ました。ハイキングしながら神秘的な海をみれるのはとても貴重な経験になりました。最高の１日でした。（Mizuki and Saki）
