今日は、マービスタ小学校に実習に行っている７人の様子を紹介します。
Kindergarten（1年生の前のクラス）クラスの朝のサークルタイムの時に、二人が紹介されていましたね。
Seven students were having their internships at Mar Vista Elementary School.

紙飛行機をおりがみで折るところからやるのは難しいということをシェリーからも指摘され、結局あらかじめ折った飛行機を渡してその表面に模様を描くことだけをさせたのはよかったと思います。自分で作るという楽しみは半減したかもしれませんが、自分のデザインを描くことができたのはよかったです。そして最大の楽しみは飛行機を飛ばすことにあります。結構よく飛んでいましたね。長く飛ぶのが嬉しそうでした。
The original plan this pair had was to let children make their own paper airplanes, but they found it a little difficult for them to make with Origami paper from scratch. So they changed to let them decorate and color their plane which had been already folded. That worked well! Best of all, they enjoyed flying them outside.

この子はずっと何かを話しかけていました。よく聞いてみると、外で鬼ごっこをしたいと言っていました！ 何度言っても返事がないおとなにめげない子どもの忍耐強さに頭が下がります！ やっと通じたこの子は他の男の子も交じえて外遊びでずっと鬼ごっこをしていました。昨日のリンズコットでも鬼ごっこは人気で、単純で昔からある遊びですが、どこの国にでもある遊びのようです。
This boy just wanted to say that he’d like to play tag, but he was not able to be responded. He would probably learn there is an adult who cannot be so responsive even if the adult appears to listen to you. Children have to learn to communicate with a variety of people. This boy finally made himself understood and played tag with this male student. Tag is one of the simplest and oldest games of all time.

こちらは鬼ごっこに特別なルールをつけているようです。何か黒いものに触っているとタッチできないと説明していたようです。単純な遊びだからこそそれにルールを加えて複雑にすることができるのがおもしろいのでしょうね。
Here also this student was invited to play tag, but these children were explaining a variation of tag. Simple games can be made much more complicated by adding special rules.

こちらは１年生ですが、スナックタイムがありました。食べても食べなくてもいいようですが、こちらの仲良しグループはしっかり食べていましたね。
These girls are first graders having snacks together. Some snacks looked like lunch already!

ここの学校の子どもたちは、どこに行っても ”Hi” や、時には「こんにちは」という声がかかってくるほどフレンドリーです。この二人の子も恥ずかしがり屋のようですが、人懐っこさの方が勝っています。
Students in this school are very friendly, saying Hi to us and sometimes even “Konnichiwa” in Japanese. These girls looked shy but amicable.
