ホストファミリー先で最初の日を過ごし、定刻に全員が集合できたのは素晴らしいことです！ そして、けんさんのオリエンテーションが始まりました。ホストファミリー先での一日目の印象と驚いた・困ったこと等についてひとりずつ話してもらいました。すべてのもののサイズが大きいこと、ペットの多さ、子どもが裸足で家の中を動き回っていること、家族がとっても親切にしてくれること、英語でどう表現するかはもちろんのこと、何を言っているかを聞き取ることが難しいこと等、基本的には問題もなく第一日目が終わったことが報告されました。
Managing jet lag, students were all on time at the room they were supposed to be! It was a really good start! Ken asked each student how his or her first day went; what impressed and surprised them most on their first day. They reported that everything basically went well; for instance, they noticed that everything was bigger in the US, their family kept many animals, people were all kind, children went barefoot at home and were all so energetic, they had a hard time understanding what American people (particularly men) said in English as well as expressing what they really wanted to say.

文京学院大学を代表して、引率教員から挨拶と感謝の意を表し、その後、参加学生の渡邊春香さんにも一言決意を述べてもらいました。
On behalf of Bunkyo Gakuin University, I, a teacher leading the group, expressed my sincere gratitude to all the dedicated people and their team who have supported the program for nearly 10 years. Also on behalf of a whole group, Haruka Watanabe gave a thank you speech including her determination to do many new things during her stay in Santa Cruz.
