教室内環境設定にも、気づいた学生がいたでしょうか。このＫのクラスでは、写真にあるような「世界をよりよくするための私の夢」という掲示物が張られていました。子どもの夢を聞いて先生が文字にしたものですが、ひとつひとつかわいいものから深い内容まで、「子どもはすごい」と思わせるものばかりです。こういう意識や気づきを幼児期に持たせる教育を、日本ではしているでしょうか。
In the kindergarten class, there were pieces of paper on the wall saying “Our dreams for a better world.” Children drew pictures and said what their dreams were. They were so cool, amazing, and creative. For instance, “I have a dream of helping somebody brushing their teeth and go to the dentist” and “I have a dream that everyone has flying cars that don’t pollute.” I wonder if Japanese children were encouraged to be aware of self-efficacy in doing something for a better world.

図書館では、図書館司書がＫの子どもたちに絵本の読み聞かせをしてました。子どもたちはとっても集中してお話を聞いていたようですが、文京生にはちょっと難しかったでしょうか！
We went to the library where a librarian was reading a book to the kindergarten children. All the children sat listening attentively to the story, but to Bunkyo students it was a little too difficult to understand!

読み聞かせの後は、3年生の上級生がやってきて、数の勉強のお手伝いをしてくれていました。トランプを使ったゲームで、数の認識を高めるというのが目的のようですが、「おにいちゃん、おねえちゃん」も文京生と一緒になって自分たちが楽しんでいるようでした。
After the book reading session, students at Big Buddy came in to help the children learn numbers using cards. Bunkyo students also tried to join them for a card game “Go fish.”
