【2018年 海外短期フィールドワーク 児童発達学科 報告11-2】
■ Cabrillo College（アメリカ カリフォルニア州 サンタクルーズ） での海外短期フィールドワークです。

5人の学生が、カブリヨ大学の子どもセンターでの実習をさせてもらいました。今年の参加学生で一人だけの男子学生は、ここでも多くの友人を作っていました。メリサンドにも保育現場に男性教師が必要であると言われました。日本でも幼児教育の現場には男性の割合が低いのですが、アメリカをはじめ世界中がこの傾向にあるようです。
Five students had their internships at Cabrillo Children’s Center. Leo in the photo is the only male student in the group. He made a lot of friends already in the preschool classroom. “We need male teachers in ECE,” said Melisande. Male teachers are a rare sight in preschools and primary schools across Japan as well and perhaps across the world!

ここのテーブルでは先週のワークショップでも作った、手作りの小麦粉粘土でいろんなものを作っていました。
On this table, students were making something from playdough which was made by the teachers.

こちらのコーナーはブロック遊びです。創造性や、感覚運動、問題解決などブロック遊びで学ぶ領域は様々です。ここに集まっている子どもたちも、結構長い間ここで遊んでいました。
Building blocks and magnetic blocks are traditional toys that provide so many opportunities for children to develop creative thinking skills, fine motor development, problem solving and more. These children were playing in this area for a long time.

こちらはトドラークラス（幼児期前期）で、二人の学生が実習です。写真でもわかるように、部屋の中が少し暗めになっています。子どもたちを落ち着かせるためのようです。今日は結構強い雨が降っていて、さすがに外では遊べそうもなく、中遊びで何とか彼らのエネルギーを発散させなくてはいけません。
This is a toddler room where two students were interning. As seen in the photo, they dimmed the lights so children got to calm down. Because they couldn’t go out to play due to a rainy day, they need to burn off energy indoor!

トドラークラスにはインターンと実習生の二人のカブリヨ大学の学生が入っています。まれなことのようですが、写真の男性教員の周りにもいつしか多くの子どもが集まってきます。
Here is the toddler room again and there are two male teachers this year. In this photo, one of them was there and children gathered around him.
