スモールグループ活動の時間では、メリサンドが「ネコのピート」の話を読んでいました。読みながら、または読み終わってからも、面白い質問をしてお話の理解につなげていました。

This is one of small group activities.  Melisande was reading the book, Pete the cat.  To encourage critical reading, teachers can ask students questions about the text before, during, and after they read.

こちらの外のグループでは、家族の話をしていました。家族が何人いますかという質問よりは、きょうだい（siblings）が何人いますかという聞き方をすることが多いようです。

In this group, they were talking about their families.  For instance, they asked a Japanese student, “Do you have any siblings?”

こちらもネコの関係する本を読んでいましたね。子どもたちの集中を本に向けさせるためのいろんな方法を取っていたようです。

In this group, the teacher was reading a book related to a cat as well.  She tried everything to get the children to pay attention to the book.

こちらのクラスでは先週 Jean と Melisande に教えてもらった、”I ring my bells” を歌って、最後に頭からベルを落としてかごに入れていました。学生たちも一緒に歌えたでしょうか。

At the end of the circle time, they were singing “I ring my bells.”  That was the song we learned last week from Jean and Melisande’s workshop.  Did they sing along?
