2019/03/25

今朝、学生たちは家族に連れられて、待ち合わせ場所に重いスーツケースをもって集合しました。別れは辛いのですが、これが最後ではないのです。今度会う時まで会うのを楽しみにしていると考えましょう。そして、やっとサンフランシスコに向けて出発しました！

All the families brought their students to the Parking K at Cabrillo College this morning and said goodbye to each other.  Goodbyes are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again!  And we were off to San Francisco!

2019/03/25

サンフランシスコの定番は、まずはゴールデンゲートブリッジです。今年は橋を渡らずに、手前から橋をこの角度から見ました。その後、ピア３９という観光地で、思い思いに学生たちは自由時間を楽しみました。

We went to the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombart St. which is one of America’s crookest streets, and then Pier 39 for more shopping!  They had a wonderful day exploring and shopping on the waterfront.

たくさんのお土産をもって、ホテルに戻りました。そして、今日一日お付き合いをしてくれたジンスさん、フランシス、ワヒラ家族、マーガレットに最後のお別れをして、感謝の気持ちを伝えました。ジンスさんが最後にとてもいいことを日本語で言ってくれましたね。皆さんが受けた感謝の気持ちや愛を今度は皆さんたちが他の人にも与えてくださいと。そうやってみんながハッピーになることを願っています。

We came back to the hotel with a lot of shopping bags.  Then we really had to say goodbye to Jinsu, Frances, Wauhillau and Kevin and Ashlee, and Margaret who drove us to San Francisco and spent a whole day with us.  Jinsu told the students that kindness is not merely for the sake of others; when you appreciate what their host family has done for you, then do the same to make someone happy and feel appreciated.  Thank you all!

今日の夕食はモールで買ってきた食事をみんなで持ち寄って、私の部屋で食べました。それぞれの家族の話を中心に、今回の旅がいかに素晴らしいものであったのかが、たくさんのエピソードでわかりました。最後のグループが自分の部屋に帰ったのは、１０時近くでした！

We had our last dinner in my room.  We talked about this trip, particularly about life in each host family, while eating food we bought at the mall.  They were just not able to stop talking about their experiences because they had an amazing time , a lot of fun, and good laughs!
